  • M-Pesa Express (STK Push): The primary, secure method for instant donations. All payments are processed through the Uwazi Gateway.
  • Bank Transfer: For larger contributions (Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers), integrated with our statutory accounts as mandated by the ORPP.

2. Tiered Giving & Transparency

In line with our membership structure, you can contribute as:

  • Ordinary Donor: One-off or recurring contributions below KES 10,000.
  • Strategic Contributor: Contributions exceeding KES 10,000, which are subject to enhanced statutory disclosure.
  • Corporate Partner: Lawful Kenyan-owned entities supporting our policy research (Maximum limits apply as per the Election Campaign Financing Act).

3. The Uwazi Ledger Guarantee

Every donation—regardless of size—is immediately logged on the CIPA Uwazi Ledger.

  • Privacy Options: You may choose to display your name or remain an Anonymous Contributor on the public-facing ledger (though your identity remains recorded for ORPP compliance).

LEGAL & PRIVACY SAFEGUARDS

  • No Foreign Funding: In strict adherence to the Political Parties Act, CIPA does not accept donations from non-citizens, foreign governments, or foreign-funded NGOs.
  • Data Minimisation: We only collect the mandatory details (Name, ID, Mobile Number) required by the ORPP IPPMS to verify the legality of a donation.
  • Audit Readiness: All financial records are prepared in compliance with Public Finance Management laws and are available for inspection at the Nyamira Plaza head office.

Expert Developer Note (The Backend)

For this section, we utilize the Daraja API (Safaricom) for M-Pesa integration with a callback URL that triggers an immediate update to our SQL-backed Uwazi Ledger. All transaction data is encrypted (AES-256) and synchronized with the ORPP IPPMS API to ensure we never exceed individual statutory spending caps.
